Minnesota Timberwolves
Founded as an expansion team in 1989, the Timberwolves struggled until they drafted charismatic superstar-in-themaking Kevin Garnett in 1995. Behind him, the team made eight-straight playoff appearances between 1997 and 2004, when they went all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
The team then suffered a dramatic playoff drought, during which they traded Garnett to Boston in 2007, before finally appearing in the postseason once again this year, thanks to the combined efforts of Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.
There’s no doubt that the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns has hurt the Timberwolves, but their poor start has highlighted plenty of other pressing issues, writes Harry Harrison.
